Vietnam continues to export ilmenite ore
27 Mar 2009
Deputy Prime Minister Hoang Trung Hai has confirmed that Vietnam will continue to export ilmenite ore, which is used to produce titanium, throughout 2010.

Deputy PM Hai recently assigned the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MIT) to calculate the ilmenite ore reserve in order to ensure enough supplies for both domestic consumption and export.

He urged titanium-manufacturing enterprises to prepare for large-scale processing projects, especially a project to produce dioxide titanium with a capacity of 30,000 tonnes per year of the Ha Tinh Minerals and Trading Corporation.

The Deputy PM also asked the Ministry of Finance to revise the export tax of ilmenite ore and ilmenite products so to encourage processing.
